Jammu, Aug 24 (JKNS): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday visited Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu to meet those injured in the Chashoti cloudburst tragedy and expressed satisfaction over their recovery.

Speaking to reporters after interacting with the patients, Singh as per news agency JKNS said, “I came here to see the injured. The Prime Minister is deeply concerned and is personally keeping track of the situation. Though I could not reach the affected spot due to weather conditions, I am relieved that the injured admitted here are stable and recovering. I commend the doctors for their commendable efforts.”

The Defence Minister added that he, along with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, will move to Raj Bhavan to hold a virtual interaction with the people of Chashoti.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma said reconstruction work in Chashoti will begin soon. “A high-level meeting will be convened to finalize the roadmap for rebuilding houses before winter sets in. Our priority is to restore normalcy and rehabilitate all those affected,” Sharma said. (JKNS)
