Srinagar, Aug 25 (JKNS): A video has gone viral on social media showing a youth throwing a Srinagar Smart City bicycle into the Jhelum river, drawing widespread condemnation from citizens.

The incident as per news agency JKNS, believed to have occurred along the riverfront in Rajbagh area, shows the youth deliberately tossing the cycle into the river, an act netizens have described as vandalism of public property.

Social media users have strongly reacted to the video, demanding strict action against those involved. Many alleged that such incidents are often committed by drug addicts, calling for authorities to identify the culprit through CCTV surveillance and take legal action.

“The Smart City cycles were introduced for the welfare of people and to promote eco-friendly transport. Such reckless behavior is unacceptable and must not go unpunished,” commented several users online.

The Srinagar Smart City Limited had launched the public bicycle sharing system to encourage green mobility and help reduce traffic congestion in the summer capital. (JKNS)
