Karnah Kupwara:
In a bid to tighten accountability and improve public service delivery, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah, Zaffar Ahmad Lone, on Thursday carried out surprise inspections of several government offices and institutions across Tangdar and adjoining areas, exposing serious lapses in staff attendance.

During the drive, 15 employees were found unauthorisedly absent from duty. The inspections covered a wide range of key offices and institutions including the Tehsil Supply Office (FCS&CA), Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Tangdar/Teetwal, Model Anganwadi Centre Chitterkote, SDO Office Karnah, Social Welfare Office Karnah, Primary Health Centre Chitterkote, Sub District Hospital Tangdar, R&B Division, Revenue Department, ZEO Office, Agriculture Office, and the Irrigation & Flood Control Office.

Officials said the SDM personally verified staff presence and service delivery at these establishments. Expressing strong displeasure over the widespread absenteeism, the SDM termed the situation “unacceptable” and directed immediate disciplinary action against the erring staff members. Heads of departments were instructed to ensure strict compliance with duty rosters, maintain proper attendance records, and submit regular reports.

“The administration will not tolerate negligence or absenteeism at the cost of public service. Surprise inspections will continue to enforce accountability and ensure better efficiency in government offices,” SDM Lone said.

The Information & PR Department, Kupwara, will share further details regarding the absent employees and the action initiated against them in the coming days
