Kathua, Sep 8 (JKNS): Troops of the Gurj Division, in coordination with the Civil Administration, launched a drone operation to deliver food, water, medicines, and other essential supplies to residents of remote Chilla village in Kathua district, Jammu region.

As per news agency JKNS, Troops of Gurj Division swiftly mobilized with load-carrying drones and essential supplies, navigating challenging terrain and adverse weather conditions to reach Plal village on the western side of the Ujh River by 5 PM on September 7. Drone operations across the river commenced immediately, delivering 150 kg of ration late into the night. The relief operation resumed on September 8, delivering another 150 kg, taking the total to 300 kg. The 16 stranded families, isolated for the past 20 days, expressed gratitude to the Indian Army and Kathua District Administration for their timely intervention.

Since August 17, 2025, troops of the Rising Star Corps have been conducting extensive rescue and relief operations across the region. While flood relief columns remain deployed to respond to emerging situations, Army personnel continue reaching isolated villages, providing food, water, medicines, organizing medical camps, and working to restore road connectivity.

Officials said the operations demonstrate the Army’s proactive approach in ensuring relief reaches even the most inaccessible areas, underscoring its commitment to the people in times of crisis.

The Indian Army reaffirmed its pledge to stand by the people, delivering timely relief and hope to those affected by the floods.

The village, situated on the banks of the Ujh River, has remained cut off due to extensive damage to roads and bridges caused by recent floods. With conventional access blocked, the Civil Administration sought assistance from the Indian Army. (JKNS)
