Sopore, Sep 11 (JKNS): In a major relief for residents of Sopore constituency, the long-pending demand for the Pahiwar Road Project has finally been approved, ending a wait of over seven decades.
Details available with news agency JKNS stated that, the project has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of ₹2.54 crore.
Work on the 5 km stretch from Marbal to Pahiwar is expected to start shortly, following joint efforts by MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar, ADC Sopore S.A. Raina, and the R&B Division Sopore.
Locals of Pahiwar, predominantly from the Gajjar community comprising nearly 20 families, expressed their gratitude to the concerned authorities. “This is the last village of Sopore constituency, located around 30 km from the main town. For decades we remained cut off, but this road will finally connect us with the outside world,” a resident said.
Officials further added that 3.5 km of the adjoining stretch under PMGSY has already been forwarded for approval, which will link Pahiwar with Rampora Rajpora. Once completed, the road is expected to provide vital connectivity and ease the hardships of the people living in this remote belt.
The villagers described the project as “a new lifeline,” terming it a landmark step that fulfills a 70-year-old dream.
A group of Locals while expressing happiness said that we are really thankful to MLA Irshad sahab for this work and he came here multiple times to get this work started and done quickly. (JKNS
