Dubai, Sep 15 (JKNS): Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav on Sunday said that his team’s emphatic win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 was dedicated to the armed forces, while also voicing support for the families affected by the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Yadav said, “We stand with the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and extend our heartfelt solidarity.” He added, “This victory is for our armed forces, whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire us every day.”

The statement was met with loud cheers and applause, as thousands of fans at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium gave him a standing ovation in acknowledgment of his tribute.

Earlier, India produced an all-round performance to outplay Pakistan by seven wickets in their Asia Cup 2025 encounter at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Opting to bowl first, India restricted Pakistan to 127 for nine in 20 overs. Saim Farhan was the top contributor with 40 off 44 balls, while Shaheen Afridi added late fireworks with 33 from 16.

Kuldeep Yadav’s spin proved decisive, picking up 3 for 18, while Axar Patel finished with 2 for 18 to dent Pakistan’s scoring opportunities.

In reply, India made light work of the chase, reaching the target in 15.5 overs. Suryakumar Yadav guided the innings with 47 off 37 deliveries, Abhishek Sharma struck a blistering 31 from just 13 balls, and Tilak Varma chipped in with a composed 31 off 31.

Pakistan’s Saim Ayub was the lone bright spot, bagging 3 wickets in his four-over spell, but it wasn’t enough to stop India’s comfortable win.(JKNS)
