Srinagar, Sep 16 (JKNS): The Asmita Women’s Wushu League 2025 was formally inaugurated today at the Indoor Stadium, Polo Ground, Srinagar, and will continue from 16th to 17th September 2025.
The league marks a major step in empowering young women athletes and witnessed an overwhelming participation of over 600 players, representing every district of Kashmir, along with three Khelo India Centres and one PMDP Centre.
The opening ceremony was graced by Mr. Kuldeep Handoo, Chief Coach of India and the first Dronacharya Awardee in Wushu from India, as the Chief Guest.
He was joined by the office bearers of the Wushu Association of J&K including Mr. Mohammed Maqsood Rather, Joint Secretary, along with Mr. Ajaz (KIC Coach), Mr. Rameez Ahmad (PMDP Coach), and Mr. Irfan Ahmad Wani. Parents, teachers, and well-wishers also attended in large numbers to support the participants.
In his address, Mr. Kuldeep Handoo praised the dedication and talent of the young athletes, interacted with them personally, and assured that every possible facility along with quality coaching would be provided to help them grow.
He motivated the players to remain disciplined and focused, highlighting that such initiatives are stepping stones to success at the national and international stage.
The ceremony concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks presented by Mr. Mohammed Maqsood Rather, Joint Secretary, Wushu Association of J&K. (JKNS)
