FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Srinagar, Sep 17 (JKNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said he was saddened by the demise of senior Kashmiri political leader and academician Professor Abdul Gani Bhat, recalling him as a civil person who stood for dialogue in difficult times.

“Our political ideologies were poles apart but I will always remember him as a very civil person. He had the courage to espouse the cause of dialogue when many believed violence was the only way forward. This even led to his meetings with then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji and Deputy PM Advani ji,” Omar wrote in a post on X, as per news agency JKNS.

The Chief Minister offered condolences to Bhat’s family and prayed for his eternal peace, saying, “May Professor Bhat sb find place in Jannat.” (JKNS)
