Anantnag, Sept 20 (JKNS): The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Anantnag, Mubashir Jan, on Saturday visited Delhi Public School (DPS) Anantnag and held an interaction with school bus drivers and transport staff to spread awareness on mandatory safety measures for student transportation.
As per news agency JKNS, the session was aimed at ensuring that all school transport vehicles strictly adhere to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, as well as Supreme Court guidelines on safe school transport.
During the interaction, the ARTO emphasized the need for CCTV surveillance in buses, availability of first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, speed governors, proper emergency exits, timely fitness checks, and prohibition of rash driving or use of mobile phones while on duty. He also underlined that only trained and licensed drivers must be engaged for ferrying children.
The drivers assured full compliance with the directions, while the school management lauded the efforts of the ARTO office and reiterated their commitment to prioritize student safety. —(JKNS)
