Anantnag, Sep 21 (JKNS): A video circulating on social media on Sunday showed twin girls from Anantnag appealing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Kashmir to witness its beauty and support residents affected by recent floods.

Zainab and Zaiba, aged eight, from the Kokernag area, made the appeal while interacting with BJP leader Ravinder Raina during his visit to Jablipora Fruit Mandi, where he met horticulture traders who suffered heavy losses due to recent highway blockages caused by landslides.

The twins expressed their wish for the Prime Minister to come to the valley. As per news agency JKNS “We wanted Modi to visit Kashmir because Kashmir is really beautiful. Modi’s visit to Kashmir would have added to the valley’s splendour,” Zainab said amid cheers from people present. “Our Kashmir is beautiful,” she added.

When Raina asked if they wanted to meet the Prime Minister, the girls said, “Yes.” Zainab added, “He should come to our Kashmir in summer or when winter comes. We are requesting him once again.”

Highlighting the impact of recent rains, Zaiba said, “We have suffered huge losses. Our bridge was washed away in the rain. Apple traders and orchard owners suffered terrible losses.”

The twins also requested the establishment of a cold storage facility in the area to preserve fruits. “There should be a store where fruits can be kept,” one of them said. When Raina clarified, “A cold store?” the girls nodded.

Zainab said, “We want to keep apples in those stores because apples are one of our fruits which the people of India also like. An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” drawing laughter from the crowd. (JKNS)
