Stolen Gold Worth ₹12 Lakh Recovered, One Arrested in Nowhatta Burglary Case

Srinagar, Sep 29 (JKNS): Police have recovered gold items valued at around ₹12 lakh and arrested one accused after a burglary was reported at a residence in Rajouri Kadal area of Nowhatta.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, On 21st September 2025, Police Station Nowhatta received a written complaint from Mohammad Yousuf Rather, son of Ab. Gaffar Rather, resident of Wantpora, Rajouri Kadal, to the effect that some unknown persons had broken into his house during his absence, ransacked the house and made away with several gold items, valued in lakhs of Rupees.

Taking cognizance of the matter, Police Station Nowhatta registered a case under FIR No. 51/2025, under sections 305 and 331 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and initiated a thorough investigation, it reads.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by the Station House Officer (SHO) Nowhatta, was constituted to investigate the case. With technical and human intelligence inputs, several suspects were identified and questioned, it reads.

During sustained investigation, one suspect was namely Waseem Ahmad Kaloo, son of Gh. Qadir Kaloo, resident of Chattabal, was identified as the accused person, it reads.

Upon his disclosure, the Police team successfully recovered stolen gold items worth approximately ₹12 lakhs. The accused has been arrested in connection with the case, it reads.

Further investigation is ongoing to ascertain the involvement of other individuals and to ensure all stolen property is accounted for.

Srinagar Police remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of citizens by actively combating social crimes, reads the statement. (JKNS)
