JK Tourism & Allied Business Forum Appeals to Government of India for Immediate Revival of Tourism

Srinagar, Oct 3 (JKNS): The Jammu Kashmir Tourism & Allied Business Forum held a meeting today at Hotel Radisson Collection, Rajbagh, under the leadership of its Chairman, Mr. Mushtaq Chaya. The meeting was attended by the Forum’s office bearers, managing committee members, and representatives from various allied sectors.

Those present included members from the travel and tourism industry, hospitality sector, representatives from Shikara Association, Chairman Houseboat Owners Association, environmental groups, the handicraft sector, along with representatives from civil society and the general trade. All business stakeholders have voluntarily joined the Forum, whose main aim is to work for the betterment of all businesses of Jammu & Kashmir.

The meeting deliberated on the pressing challenges confronting the tourism industry in Jammu Kashmir and highlighted the urgent need for revival measures. Participants observed that tourism remains the backbone of the region’s economy, supporting lakhs of livelihoods, yet the prolonged slowdown has left many businesses struggling for survival.

The Forum resolved to work collectively for the revival, promotion, and sustainable growth of tourism in the region. Members underlined that no effort will be spared to ensure Jammu Kashmir regains its rightful place as one of the country’s premier travel destinations.

It was also noted that discussions and deliberations took place on a range of issues concerning the tourism and allied sectors, with participants expressing solidarity and optimism for the future.

The Forum today also appealed to the Government of India to kindly intervene and help revive tourism in Jammu Kashmir, stressing that immediate support is vital to protect livelihoods and strengthen the regional economy.

The meeting concluded with a collective pledge to safeguard livelihoods and contribute towards peace, progress, and prosperity in Jammu Kashmir. (JKNS
