Tangdhar, Oct 5 (JKNS): Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad, a distinguished zoologist, educator, and freelance journalist from Tangdhar, Karnah, Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir, has made remarkable contributions to science, education, and community development.
A product of Government Degree College Bemina and the University of Kashmir, Dr. Ahmad pursued advanced studies in Zoology, earning his M.Sc. from Central University UK, Dehradun, and a Ph.D. from Rajasthan University. He also completed an internship at the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, and acquired diverse technical qualifications in toxicology and computer programming, reflecting his multidisciplinary expertise.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Ahmad has served as guest faculty and lecturer at Government Degree College Tangdhar and Government Higher Secondary School Teetwal Karnah, while actively coordinating educational initiatives in collaboration with UNICEF and PRITHAM Education Foundation. A prolific researcher, he has published studies on molecular biology, wildlife parasitology, cold-water fisheries, and animal communication in national and international journals. Beyond academia, he engages a wider audience through his educational YouTube platform, Teaching Pathway, and contributes as a freelance journalist, blending scientific insight with accessible content creation.
In addition to his academic and research endeavors, Dr. Ahmad leads the RoshanKal Welfare Foundation, an NGO dedicated to community welfare, educational development, and social initiatives in Karnah. He has been widely recognized for his service, including felicitations by Shri Vibhu Nayar, Tribal Secretary, Government of India, during the 2025 Karnah Festival under the Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, and awards from the District Administration and Indian Army for promoting civil-military partnerships and organizing local festivals.
