Anantnag, Oct 06 (JKNS): The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kokernag has issued a weather advisory following continuous snowfall and adverse conditions in higher reaches such as Sinthan Top and Margan Top.

According to the advisory as per news agency JKNS, vehicular movement towards Daksum-Sinthan Top and Gawran-Margan Top shall only be allowed after road clearance by the concerned departments and assessment of road conditions.

The administration has warned that the prevailing weather may lead to slippery roads, landslides, shooting stones, and poor visibility, making vehicular movement risky and prone to accidents.

Drivers have been instructed to carry proper safety equipment, including the use of snow skid chains. The general public, travellers, and tourists have been advised to follow weather updates and adhere to instructions issued by the administration from time to time.

The advisory also discourages heavy vehicles and non-essential travel until the weather improves.

For emergencies and updates regarding road clearance, the administration has shared contact numbers of officials from PMGSY, NHIDCL, Police, and the SDM Office.

The order has been issued by SDM Kokernag, Prince Kumar (IAS), in the interest of public safety and will remain effective until further instructions. (JKNS)
