Srinagar, Oct 9 (JKNS): The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir on Thursday carried out searches at multiple locations in Srinagar after registering a case against four land brokers accused of duping a complainant of ₹53 lakh through forged documents and fake property deals.
In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, The Economic Offence Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir is conducting house searches at several locations in Srinagar District in connection with Case FIR No. 23/2025 under Sections 420 and 120-B IPC, registered against four individuals involved in a ₹53 lakh land fraud.
The case was registered following a written complaint alleging that land brokers Tariq Ahmad Hajam, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Sonaullah Mir, and Razzak Mir all residents of Barthana Srinagar deceitfully grabbed ₹53.00 lakh from the complainant under the pretext of facilitating a land deal. Investigation has revealed that the accused, in connivance with certain revenue officers and officials, had manipulated documents and misused official processes to illegally obtain money and property, it reads.
Searches are underway to trace evidence and identify the wider network of individuals involved, including any public servants linked to the conspiracy. Further investigation is in progress, statement reads. (JKNS)
