Srinagar, Oct 9 (JKNS): Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana on Thursday said that development and ecology must go hand in hand while reviewing key issues and developmental works in Baramulla, Sopore, and Rafiabad constituencies.
Rana, along with Minister for Agriculture Production and Rural Development, Javid Ahmed Dar, chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess developmental and public welfare issues in the constituencies of Baramulla, Sopore, and Rafiabad.
Rana emphasized a balanced approach between rapid development and ecological preservation, calling for timely implementation of projects, rationalisation of resources, and strict adherence to environmental safeguards. He directed officials to ensure operational water supply schemes, expedite DPR submissions, and strengthen conservation practices to secure long-term sustainability.
Minister Javid Dar highlighted the need for technological upgrades and improved management in water supply infrastructure, while MLAs Javed Hassan Baig and Irshad Rasool Kar raised constituency-specific concerns, including the revival of Nehri Zangeer and delays in forest clearances for key projects.
District officers and senior engineers from Jal Shakti, Forest, and I&FC departments also attended the meeting. (JKNS
