Mumbai, Oct 8 (JKNS): On the third day of the ongoing PIB J&K Media Tour to Mumbai, the delegation of journalists from Jammu and Kashmir visited the Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagri (Film City) in Goregaon.

The visit aimed to familiarize media persons with the creative and technical aspects of filmmaking and the functioning of India’s film industry.

The visit was facilitated by officials from the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation Limited, with coordination by PIB Mumbai, ensuring that the delegation witnessed multiple shooting locations within the sprawling 520-acre Film City premises, a space synonymous with India’s cinematic excellence.

The media team visited sets of popular national and regional films and television serials, and interacted with technicians and artists to gain insights into various aspects of film production and shooting.

The delegation also visited Whistling Woods International Institute, located within the Film City complex, where they toured VFX studios and learned about emerging technologies in film production.

Following the Film City visit, the delegation toured Whistling Woods International, where they were introduced to advanced studios and editing facilities equipped with modern technology.

The senior officials of the institute briefed the team about the growing use of virtual production technologies, which have significantly reduced the need for outdoor shooting and streamlined the filmmaking process.

Speaking about the visit, Ms. Neha Jalali, Director, PIB Jammu, said, “The Film City visit provided an invaluable opportunity for our media colleagues from Jammu and Kashmir to understand the evolution of Indian cinema, the new technologies shaping the industry, and the immense creative possibilities that lie within visual storytelling.

Such exposure deepens their perspective on how media, culture, and technology intersect to influence contemporary narratives.”

Ms. Sriyanka Chatterjee, Media and Communication Officer, PIB Mumbai, also accompanied the group.

The ongoing five-day PIB J&K Media Tour to Mumbai aims to provide journalists from Jammu and Kashmir with experiential learning through visits to national institutions and key cultural, civic, and infrastructural establishments, thereby fostering stronger professional and cultural linkages. (JKNS)
