Srinagar, Oct 17 (JKNS): Tremors were felt across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday evening after a moderate earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region.
According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) as per news agency JKNS, the quake occurred at around 5:45 p.m. with its epicenter located at latitude 36.62°N and longitude 72.72°E, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
As per reports, mild tremors were experienced in many areas of the Kashmir Valley, prompting people to rush out of homes and workplaces in fear. However, no immediate reports of damage or injuries were received. — (JKNS)
