New Delhi, Oct 20 (JKNS):In a major step towards promoting the culture and heritage of Kashmiri Pandits, Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha, who belongs to a Kashmiri Pandit family, has granted ₹10 lakh from his MPLADS fund for setting up a Kashmiri Pandit Cultural and Heritage Centre in New Delhi.
The announcement was made during a Diwali Milan function held at Samavar, Pamposh Enclave, where Mr. Tankha handed over the official sanction letter to Padma Shri Rameshwar Bamzai, head of KECSS, in presence of several prominent members of the Kashmiri Pandit community.
According to reports, the demand for such a centre was earlier raised by AIKS President Ravinder Pandita, who took up the matter with Mr. Tankha. Responding positively, the MP agreed to support the initiative and sanctioned the amount to KECSS, which will use it for developing a museum and library dedicated to the cultural preservation of Kashmiri Pandits.
AIKS President Ravinder Pandita thanked Shri Vivek Tankha for his gesture and said the move will go a long way in keeping the community’s heritage alive for future generations.
