Kupwara, Oct 25 (JKNS): The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police in Kupwara on Saturday continued their search operation for the second consecutive day in the Kishanganga River at Teetwal to trace the body of a man who reportedly jumped into the river on October 24.
The missing person has been identified as Alam Din, son of Nizam-ud-Din, a resident of Seemari Phagwan. According to officials, the man allegedly jumped into the fast-flowing Kishanganga River on Thursday, prompting an immediate response from police and rescue teams.
Since the incident, joint teams of the SDRF, local police, and volunteers have been conducting extensive searches along the riverbanks despite challenging terrain and strong water currents. Boats and other rescue equipment are being used in the ongoing operation.
Authorities said efforts will continue until the body is recovered. Local residents have also been assisting the rescue teams in their efforts.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigation is underway. (JKNS)
