House to Discuss Food, Health, Agriculture and Water-Related Issues
Srinagar, Oct 26 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is scheduled to hold a crucial sitting on Monday, during which Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is expected to introduce the Jammu and Kashmir Rent Authority Bill, 2025.
The House will also witness the presentation of the House Committee report recommending revisions in salaries and pensionary benefits for legislators.
According to the business list issued by the Assembly Secretariat, a copy of which is with news news JKNS, the House will convene at 10:00 AM.
The day will commence with Questions, followed by the announcement of the Panel of Chairmen by the Speaker.
The agenda includes five Calling Attention Notices highlighting urgent public concerns, Mir Saifullah will bring up the shortage of food grains and ration in remote areas of Keran and Jumgand, which remain inaccessible during winter due to heavy snowfall.
Nizam-ud-Din Bhat will address the spread of Hepatitis A and other waterborne diseases in Arin Block, Bandipora, threatening public health.
Hilal Akbar Lone will seek government action over losses to fruit growers caused by the recent National Highway blockade and delays in compensation.
Qaysar Jamshaid Lone will highlight the acute scarcity of drinking water in Lolab Constituency, urging immediate intervention by the Jal Shakti Department.
Ranbir Singh Pathania will raise the issue of illegal garbage dumping by Udhampur Municipality at Village Mand, which has created pollution, health hazards, and an unplanned environment along the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway.
The House will also see the presentation of the House Committee report by Shri Surjeet Singh Slathia, which recommends revisions in the salary and allowances of MLAs and pensionary benefits for former legislators.
Later, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is expected to introduce the J&K Rent Authority Bill, 2025 (LA Bill No. 4 of 2025), aimed at establishing a Rent Authority to regulate tenancy, safeguard the rights of landlords and tenants, and provide a fast-track mechanism for resolving rental disputes.
