Srinagar, Oct 27 (JKNS): Heated arguments and slogans disrupted proceedings in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Monday as the fallout from the Rajya Sabha elections spilled onto the floor of the House.
According to news agency Jammu Kashmir News Service (JKNS), Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary launched a direct attack on the Bhartiya Janta Party MLA’s, alleging it had manipulated votes during the recent Rajya Sabha elections.
“Yesterday, you stole four votes. If I start speaking, no one will remain seated here. Let us allow a secret to remain a secret,” Choudhary said, drawing loud protests from BJP members.
In response, BJP legislators countered while NC MLA’s chants vote chor!” directed at BJP lawmakers, accusing them of “vote theft.”
Amid the uproar, Peoples Conference Chief Sajad Gani Lone claimed that both NC and BJP had an understanding in the election. “It was pure match-fixing,” he alleged.
The verbal clashes forced a brief adjournment of proceedings, as the Speaker struggled to restore order. (JKNS)
