Srinagar, Oct 28 (JKNS): Lal Chowk MLA, of National Conference Ahsan Pardesi, on Tuesday drew the Assembly’s attention to growing flood risks in his constituency, stressing the urgent need for preventive measures and scientific planning.
As per news agency JKNS, Pardesi asked for a detailed account of the government’s initiatives to strengthen embankments, upgrade drainage networks, and mitigate flooding in low-lying areas. He emphasized that repeated incidents of inundation demand a proactive approach to safeguard the population.
“The administration must implement a comprehensive Flood Plain Zoning Policy to regulate construction and enhance the city’s flood resilience,” Pardesi said, urging authorities to treat the issue with utmost priority.
The MLA called for long-term planning and immediate action to prevent potential disasters and ensure the safety of residents in Srinagar’s flood-prone zones. (JKNS)
