Shopian, Oct 28 (JKNS): District Level Narco Coordination (NCORD) committee meeting was held today at Shopian under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian,Shishir Gupta in order to review the measures being taken against the drug and substance abuse.
On the occasion,DC took appraisal of department-wise action taken reports and emphasised on taking coordinated action against the drug and substance abuse.Respective department heads intimated on the progress, on action being taken including police action,awareness camps,treatment facility at DH, supervision in educational institutions, inspection of phamacies,etc.
He called for comprehensive enforcement of drug dispensing norms by pharmacies with focus on conducting prescription audit and strengthening the fight against drug abuse.
Stress was also laid on conducting more IEC activities in hotspot areas,initiating the highest degree of penal action on drug peddlers and keeping close vigil on educational institutions and coaching institutions.
The alarming situation of substance abuse was highlighted and stakeholders were instructed to take more result oriented action on wild cannabis destruction drives & creating awareness along with other measures.
SSP Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary, ACR,SDM Zainapora,Tehsildars, concerned district officers from Health,YS&S, Agriculture, Education, Colleges,Drugs,Excise, ATF,Information,Social Welfare and others attended the meeting. (JKNS)
