Srinagar, Oct 29 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir government has clarified that Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) beneficiaries across the Union Territory have been receiving an additional 10 kg of free ration per beneficiary every month since April 2025, while the proposal to provide 12 LPG cylinders annually to these households remains under active consideration.
According to the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) as per news agency JKNS, the additional ration is being distributed under Government Order No. 25-JK (FCS&CA) of 2025, dated April 2, 2025, aimed at augmenting the monthly food supply for larger AAY families with four or more members.
The department clarified that the additional allocation is capped at 10 kg per beneficiary under the Public Distribution System (PDS) to maintain uniformity across districts.
It further informed that no separate funds have been earmarked for the procurement of this additional ration. The grains are being distributed free of cost to eligible beneficiaries, while operational expenses such as procurement, transport, and handling are being met through the department’s revolving fund account, as per official directions.
