Srinagar, Oct 29 (JKNS): Senior BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Wednesday alleged that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had violated the Model Code of Conduct by announcing the opening of National Law University classes in Budgam amid the ongoing by-election process.
Addressing reporters outside the Assembly, Sharma as per news agency JKNS, said the Chief Minister’s assurance in the House regarding the start of classes at Ompora, Budgam, was a “clear violation of the Election Commission’s guidelines.”
“For this violation, the Chief Minister must resign immediately. If he doesn’t, we will lodge a formal complaint with the Election Commission of India,” Sharma said.
He accused the Chief Minister of undermining institutional authority and said the BJP would demand strict action from the ECI if the issue is ignored. (JKNS)
