Srinagar, Oct 29 (JKN): The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday introduced three significant bills in the Legislative Assembly to strengthen local governance, labor laws, and cooperative management in the Union Territory.
Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Javid Ahmad Dar, as per news agency JKNS presented “The Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2025” (L.A. Bill No. 5 of 2025), published earlier in an extraordinary issue of the Official Gazette, aimed at enhancing the functioning and accountability of Panchayati Raj institutions.
Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, holding the Labour and Employment portfolio, tabled “The Labour and Employment (Regulation and Service Conditions) Bill, 2025” (L.A. Bill No. 6 of 2025), which seeks to consolidate laws regulating employment and service conditions of workers in shops and establishments.
Additionally, Minister Javid Ahmad Dar, also in charge of Cooperatives, introduced “The Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2025” (L.A. Bill No. 7 of 2025), aimed at improving governance, transparency, and efficiency of cooperative societies in the Union Territory.
All three bills have been published in the Official Gazette and mark a significant step toward legal and administrative reforms in Jammu and Kashmir. (JKNS)
