Srinagar, Oct 30 (JKNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and MLA Wahid Para on Thursday accused the Jammu and Kashmir Government of “betraying its youth” by failing to deliver on employment promises.
In a post on X, Para as pwr news agency JKNS wrote that the government which came to power on the promise of providing one lakh jobs has “utterly failed the youth,” noting that the unemployment rate in J&K has soared to 32% the highest in India.
Citing official figures tabled in the Assembly, Para said there are 2,960 gazetted and 14,493 non-gazetted posts a total of 17,453 government vacancies across departments.
He pointed out that the Health and Medical Education Department alone has 7,285 vacancies, followed by Finance, Power, and Industries.
“These are not just numbers, but lost opportunities for thousands of educated youth waiting endlessly for recruitment drives that never come,” Para said, adding that “when the government sits silent while thousands of sanctioned posts remain vacant, it is not inefficiency, it is betrayal.” (JKNS)
