Srinagar, Nov 5 (JKNS): Bihar Governor Arif Khan on Wednesday said that both the Prime Minister and the people of the country share a collective desire to see Jammu and Kashmir regain its statehood.
However, he emphasized that the transition must take place through a well-planned and sustainable framework to ensure long-term stability.
Speaking to the media in Srinagar, as per news agency JKNS, Khan said that although the demand and sentiment for the restoration of statehood is widespread, the consequences of major political decisions often affect ordinary citizens first. “The ultimate objective remains to build a peaceful, balanced and stable atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir,” he remarked.
Khan also stated that all necessary arrangements for the upcoming Bihar elections have been completed to ensure a smooth, transparent and fair polling process.
Describing Kashmir’s unique identity and cultural importance, Khan said, “Kashmir is the crown of India.” He added, “I have always believed that those who seek true knowledge should take a few steps towards Kashmir, for it is the cradle of wisdom, intellect and culture.”
Recalling his earlier visits to the Valley, the Governor said, “There is a special emotion in my heart for Kashmir. I have visited the region several times, and in 1984, I remember spending nearly a month here.” (JKNS)
