Srinagar Police Observes 150th Anniversary of “Vande Mataram” Across All Units

Srinagar, Nov 7 (JKNS): Srinagar Police on Friday observed the 150th anniversary of the National Song Vande Mataram with patriotic fervour and reverence across all Police Stations, Police Posts, and establishments of District Srinagar.

A central commemorative event was held at PCR Kashmir, marking the occasion with grandeur and deep national spirit.

Vande Mataram, written in Sanskrit by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and first sung by Rabindranath Tagore, was adopted as the National Song of India on January 24, 1950. The event celebrated its enduring legacy and profound contribution to India’s freedom struggle and nation-building journey.

In all units of District Police Srinagar, the event was organized under the chairmanship of Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, and supervised by the respective territorial officers.

The ceremony commenced with the singing of Vande Mataram, evoking a deep sense of patriotism and unity among the participants. Officers and personnel paid homage to the song that has symbolized India’s devotion, sacrifice, and unity for generations.

The programme highlighted the timeless message of Vande Mataram devotion to the motherland, national integration, and collective responsibility toward building a strong and united India.

The event concluded with a collective pledge by all officers and personnel to uphold the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of the nation, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir with dedication, discipline, and National pride.

The function at PCR was graced by Director General of Police, J&K, Sh. Nalin Prabhat, IPS; Special Director General of Police, Sh. S.J.M. Geelani, IPS; and Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sh. V.K. Birdi, IPS, along with other senior officers, Zonal heads, and a large gathering of Police personnel from various wings of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. (JKNS)
