Jammu, Nov 17 (JKNS): The spirit of determination, discipline, and excellence defined the finals of the 69th National School Games U-19 Girls Taekwondo Championship, where athletes from Uttarakhand, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), and Maharashtra dominated the arena, capturing Gold in their respective categories.

The thrilling contest unfolded at the Indoor Sports Complex, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu.

Organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir, under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India, the championship is being held under the dynamic leadership of Ms. Anuradha Gupta, Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K.

Ms. Vinakshi Koul, Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, Jammu, serves as the Organising Secretary of this prestigious event.

Showcasing exceptional talent and technical brilliance, Astha Joshi of Uttarakhand secured the Gold Medal in the U-19 Girls -40 kg category.

Syed Karishma of Andhra Pradesh won the Silver, while Supriya Pal of Uttar Pradesh and Babita Kumari of Jharkhand shared the Bronze.

In the fiercely contested U-19 Girls -63 kg category, Radhika Sharma of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan emerged victorious with a Gold Medal. The Silver Medal went to Simran of Chandigarh, while Sumedha Pal of West Bengal and Vaishnavi of CBSE claimed the Bronze.

Meanwhile, in the U-19 Girls -46 kg category, Siddhi Atul Bendale of Maharashtra demonstrated outstanding form to clinch the Gold Medal. Lakshita Malik of Haryana earned the Silver, with Rajrupa Dey of West Bengal and Sakshi Meghvanshi of Rajasthan taking home the Bronze.

The medal ceremony was graced by Ms. Sangeeta Shoinik, Principal, JNV Akhnoor, who presented the medals to the winners, accompanied by Ms. Harvinder Kaur, Zonal Physical Education Officer, and several distinguished guests.

Despite valiant efforts, the athletes from Jammu and Kashmir faced stiff competition and missed out on podium finishes so far.

The ongoing championship has brought together nearly 450 players from 36 States, Union Territories, and Organizations across the nation each striving for excellence and sporting glory in this grand celebration of talent and teamwork. (JKNS)
