New Delhi, Nov 18 (JKNS): The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday issued a fresh advisory to all private satellite television channels, directing them to avoid broadcasting any sensitive or provocative material linked to recent incidents, including the Red Fort blast case.

As per the advisory accessed by news agency JKNS, the Ministry noted instances where certain channels aired content portraying accused individuals in a manner that appeared to rationalise violent acts.

It further stated that some broadcasts had even displayed material or demonstrations that could be interpreted as instructions for preparing explosive devices content the Ministry said could potentially trigger violence, disturb public order, or impact national security.

Advisory reminded broadcasters of their legal obligation to strictly adhere to the Programme and Advertising Code under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995.

The advisory underlined that such sensitive broadcasts may breach Rules 6(1)(d), 6(1)(e) and 6(1)(h) of the Cable Television Network Rules, which bar obscene or defamatory content, material that promotes violence or anti-national sentiments, and anything that undermines the country’s integrity.

The Ministry also urged channels to avoid telecasting any visuals or information that may, in any manner, assist or promote unlawful activities. (JKNS)
