Srinagar, Nov 19 (JKNS): Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Wednesday announced that winter vacations for students from Nursery to Middle classes will begin from December 1, in view of the sharp dip in temperatures across the Valley.

Education Minister Sakina Itoo, while speaking to reporters as per JKNS, said the decision was taken after a detailed review of the prevailing cold wave. “We have held a meeting regarding this, and winter vacations for Nursery to Middle classes will commence from the first week of December,” she said.

The minister further noted that the department is monitoring academic requirements closely amid rising concerns from parents and schools over textbooks and curriculum-related issues. “Necessary directions have been issued, and the department is working to ensure minimal disruption to academics despite severe weather conditions,” she added.

The advancement of the winter break is aimed at safeguarding young students from harsh temperatures. Parents and school authorities have welcomed the move, saying it will help protect children during the coldest phase of the season. (JKNS)
