CRPF Cricket Cup 2025 Kicks Off with Grand Ceremony at SK Stadium Srinagar

Srinagar, Nov 22 (JKNS): The 3rd Edition of the CRPF Cricket Cup 2025 (Srinagar Sector T20 Challenge) began today with a vibrant inaugural ceremony at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, marking the formal opening of the week-long cricketing event.

As per news agency JKNS, Inaugurated by IG Srinagar Sector, Shri Pawan Kumar Sharma, the ceremony was attended by senior CRPF officers, dignitaries and participants, setting an energetic tone for the tournament.

The event was graced by Shri P.R. Jambholkar (DIG Administration), Shri D.K. Singh (DIG Operations), Shri P.K. Singh (DIG Srinagar South), Shri H.S. Kales (DIG P&A), Shri Sudhir Kumar (DIG Srinagar North), and Mr. Majid Dar (JKCA Member Administration), along with Commandants and senior officers of Srinagar Sector CRPF.

In his address, IG Sharma congratulated all 16 participating teams, applauding the overwhelming response of 123 team registrations, from which the final lineup was shortlisted transparently via draws. He emphasized the event’s growing popularity among youth and highlighted the focus on U-19 and U-23 players to promote young sporting talent across the Valley.

He added that the tournament not only fosters cricketing excellence but also strengthens peace, harmony and youth engagement. He extended gratitude to JKCA, Kashmir University and DPS Pantha Chowk for their support.

The CRPF Cup 2025, featuring teams from Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal, will host 31 matches across 5 venues over the next seven days. Winners will receive ₹2 lakh, while the runners-up will get ₹1.75 lakh. Matches are being live-streamed on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, with live scores available on the CricHeroes app and updates on 93.5 Red FM.

The opening match saw MLA Gymkhana Budgam defeat Batwara Sports Club at Ground A. Imtiyaz Lefty claimed the Player of the Match title for his 3-wicket haul and a quick 39 runs, earning a cash prize of ₹3,000.

In the second match at Ground B, The Real Sultans Summerbugh triumphed over Shahzaib Cricket Club, with Amir Sofi named Player of the Match for his rapid 36 runs, also receiving ₹3,000.
