Anantnag, Nov 23 (JKNS): A wild bear attacked a woman and a man in the Andoo Nowgam Shangus area of Anantnag district on Sunday, leaving the woman seriously injured.
Officials told news agency JKNS that the victims have been identified as Shahnaz Begum, wife of Mohd Kallu Khan, and Mohd Rafiq Khan, son of Ghulam Hider Khan.
Local residents rushed both victims to SDH Shangus. While Rafiq Khan received treatment locally, Shahnaz Begum was referred to SKIMS Soura in Srinagar for specialized medical care, officials added.
Following the attack, the Wildlife Control Room at Achabal was immediately alerted, and teams were dispatched to the area to trap or tranquilize the bear.
Authorities said measures are being taken to secure the vicinity and prevent further incidents. (JKNS)
