Sopore, Nov 23 (JKNS): Sopore is set to witness a major infrastructure boost with the construction of seven bridges and one footbridge, worth over ₹40 crore, MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar said on Sunday.
As per details available with news agency JKNS, the bridges including Mazbugh Bridge, Peth Seer Bridge, and Ningli Bala Bridge are at different stages of construction and are expected to be inaugurated by March 2026. Officials said the projects will ease traffic congestion, improve connectivity, and support socio-economic development across the region.
The completion of these bridges is expected to provide major relief to residents who have long faced hardships due to limited road infrastructure.
MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar said that work on Mahrajpora Bridge the biggest and most significant bridge for Sopore will begin shortly.
The bridge has remained a long-standing demand of the people for nearly 70 years.
The MLA added that the Ak- Babun Bridge in Amberpora Tarzo tendering and work will start very soon , which will serve as one of the first footbridges in Manz Seer Sopore, is scheduled to start construction in 2025-2026 financial year.
The entire set of projects, collectively estimated at around ₹40 crore, is expected to be completed during 2025-26, fulfilling a long-pending aspiration of the people of North Kashmir, particularly Sopore.
He directed the R&B Department, IF&C Department, and concerned contractors to work in fast-track mode to ensure timely completion. He said the work will continue without delay to fulfill the developmental needs of the constituency.
Regarding the Gogi-dagi Tarzoo bridge, the MLA said the project will be taken up in the 2026–27 financial year, adding that there may be a possible design issue that requires evaluation. (JKNS
