Karnah, Nov 27 (JKNS): Government Degree College Kupwara, in collaboration with District Police Kupwara, organised a comprehensive awareness programme under the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan on November 27, 2025.

The event aimed to educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to motivate them to contribute towards building a drug-free society.

The programme was graced by DSP Dr. Gulzar Rashid as the chief guest. In his enlightening address, he shared valuable insights on the rising challenges of substance abuse and urged students to reach out to him without hesitation regarding any personal or societal concerns related to drugs or mental well-being.

As part of the event, a Speech Competition was held in which 12 participants from the college showcased their perspectives and ideas on combating drug abuse. The top performers were honoured with cash prizes, while all participants received certificates of appreciation for their sincere efforts.

The programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of around 60 students, along with the teaching and non-teaching staff. The entire event was efficiently organised and supervised by Ms. Sadaf Rouf, Assistant Professor, English Department.

The event concluded with refreshments served by the District Police Kupwara, making the programme a meaningful and successful step towards spreading awareness and strengthening the fight against drug abuse. (JKNS)
