Srinagar, Dec 1 (JKNS): The spirit of adventure and outdoor learning is flourishing across the Union Territory of J&K as Youth Services & Sports Department (YSS) in several districts successfully orchestrated trekking expeditions, underscoring a committed push towards holistic youth development.

Young participants from Kishtwar, Ganderbal, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts displayed remarkable enthusiasm, discipline, and teamwork, embracing the challenges and beauty of the natural landscapes.

In Kishtwar, the seventh day of the Inter-Zonal District Level Residential Trekking Expedition for Boys saw participants trek from the Base Camp through the scenic and demanding terrains of Tilmuchi to Hargardh.

The expedition, noted for its high morale and orderly conduct, allowed students to build endurance, leadership qualities, and a deep appreciation for the local environment.

The activity is being conducted under the overarching guidance of the Director General of Youth Services & Sports for J&K, whose visionary approach continues to prioritize adventure-based education.

Close supervision by district and zonal officials ensured seamless coordination and adherence to safety protocols throughout the journey.

Simultaneously, in Ganderbal, the second batch of a District Level Trekking Camp for Boys and Girls was flagged off towards Pahalgam.

Having reached their base on November 30, the contingent embarked on their inaugural trek from Pahalgam to Betaab Valley.

The students traversed the trail with focused enthusiasm, gaining practical exposure to outdoor learning, basic trekking skills, and the region’s natural splendor.

The program, designed to foster physical fitness and self-confidence, will continue with further site visits and treks, offering structured engagement with nature until December 4.

Kupwara district witnessed a ceremonial flag-off of its second trekking batch by senior district administration officials and department officers. The contingent proceeded with high spirits towards their base camp at Nowgam Handwara.

During the flag-off, the initiative was commended for nurturing outdoor leadership, resilience, and a culture of responsible adventure sports among the youth.

District officials reaffirmed their dedication to providing safe and well-supervised trekking activities in line with the annual calendar, as the trekkers set out to explore the serene trails of the region.

Concurrently, Bandipora district celebrated the serene conclusion of a successful trekking expedition for boys and girls in Pahalgam. The program, characterized by discipline and immersive learning experiences, blended adventure with cultural enrichment.

A vibrant concluding ceremony featured cultural performances, inspiring addresses, and the distribution of awards in various categories such as Best Trekker, Most Disciplined Participant, and Top Cultural Performer, leaving participants motivated and enriched by their journey.
Across all districts, the participating students expressed immense satisfaction, a sense of accomplishment, and heightened motivation. (JKNS)
