Srinagar, Dec 1 (JKNS): The woman who set herself on fire in Srinagar’s Pratap Park on Saturday has succumbed to her burn injuries at SMHS Hospital early this morning, officials said.
As per news agency JKNS, the woman had doused herself with petrol before igniting the flames, creating panic among people present in the park. Bystanders immediately intervened and managed to extinguish the fire, after which police rushed her to SMHS Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Doctors, however, were unable to save her due to the extensive burn injuries she had sustained. Her identity has not been made public so far, and the reason behind the extreme act remains unclear.
Police said a case has been registered and further investigation is underway. More details are expected as the inquiry progresses. (JKNS)
