Cloudy Skies Bring Relief as Night Temperatures Rise Across Kashmir, Srinagar Records 0.4°C, Pampore Coldest at -3°C

Srinagar, Dec 5 (JKNS): After several bitterly cold nights, cloud cover over Kashmir provided much-needed relief, leading to a noticeable increase in minimum temperatures across many stations, officials said on Friday.

As per the figures compiled by the independent weather platform Kashmir Weather as per news agency JKNS, Srinagar saw a significant jump with the minimum temperature settling at 0.4°C. Qazigund improved to -0.2°C, while Pahalgam, though still cold, rose to -1.8°C. Kupwara recorded 0.2°C, Kokernag 0.8°C, and Gulmarg remained at the freezing mark of 0.0°C.

Despite the improvement, several areas continued to witness harsh night conditions. Pampore slipped to -3.0°C, followed by Srinagar Airport at -1.0°C and Awantipora at -1.2°C. Budgam recorded -0.6°C, Anantnag -1.3°C, and Bandipora also -0.6°C. Baramulla, however, stood comparatively warmer at 1.8°C. Pulwama and Shopian remained among the harsher stations at -2.6°C and -2.5°C respectively.

Ganderbal touched -0.2°C, Sonamarg -1.2°C, and Zethan Rafiabad -1.4°C. The coldest location continued to be Zojila Pass, where temperatures plunged to -18.0°C.

In the Jammu belt, night conditions remained moderate in comparison. Jammu recorded 8.8°C, Banihal 1.2°C, and Batote 5.5°C. Katra logged 8.5°C, while Bhaderwah registered 1.9°C. Kathua settled at 6.8°C and Jammu Airport at 9.5°C. Udhampur noted 3.6°C, Ramban 4.8°C, Samba 3.0°C, Rajouri 2.6°C, and Kishtwar 6.0°C. Reasi stood at 7.0°C, while temperature details from Doda were not available.

Freezing conditions persisted across Ladakh, with Leh recording -7.2°C and Kargil -6.2°C. Nubra Valley stood at -5.4°C, Drass at -5.7°C, and Padum at a much colder -9.1°C. Nyoma dropped to -15.2°C, while Stakna reported -7.6°C, Tangste -10.3°C, Upshi -10.1°C, Chuchot -8.3°C, and Khaltse -4.1°C. Garkone was among the few milder spots at 0.6°C. (JKNS)
