Srinagar, Dec 5 (JKNS): National Conference (NC) president Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Friday called upon party cadre to remain united and work collectively to strengthen the organisation, stressing that the time has come to bring forward young and educated individuals for the upcoming ULB and Panchayat elections.
Speaking at Naseem Bagh during an event marking the 120th birth anniversary of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said, as per news agency JKNS, that the party is undergoing internal changes aimed at improving organisational strength.
In an indirect reference to recent remarks by party MP Aga Syed Ruhullah, he noted that certain voices from within the party are creating unnecessary disturbances. “Some among us are speaking in ways that harm the party. Whatever we possess today is because of this organisation. A government cannot transform everything in a single year, especially when most authority lies with the LG. Yet, efforts are being made to address people’s concerns,” he said.
He urged both the youth and women to step forward, stating that the party now requires new energy and stronger representation at the grassroots level to gear up for the elections.
Remembering Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Dr. Farooq said the occasion is a reminder of the Sher-e-Kashmir’s lifelong commitment to uplifting the downtrodden. “The development we witness today stands on Sheikh Sahib’s vision and determination. His politics was guided by service, compassion, and justice,” he remarked.
He appealed to people to carry forward Sheikh Abdullah’s values. “True leadership is about supporting those who are suffering or losing hope. Our responsibility is to ensure no child is left without support. Governments may come and go, but truth and humanity must always guide us,” he added. (JKNS)
