Budgam, Dec 7 (JKNS): Budgam Police has intensified its action against illegal mining, seizing three L&T machines, one JCB, and three tippers during a series of late-night enforcement raids in the Pallar area of Budgam.
In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, The coordinated operation was carried out by District Police Budgam in collaboration with the Geology and Mining Department, following persistent complaints of unauthorised mineral extraction and transportation in the region.
The enforcement teams specifically targeted heavy machinery and vehicles allegedly involved in mining activities conducted in violation of established regulations.
The crackdown was launched after receiving repeated inputs about rampant night-time mining, with operators often attempting to evade routine inspections. During the raids, police intercepted multiple vehicles transporting minerals without valid permits, challans, or any form of authorisation.
Budgam Police urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious mining activity or movement of unregistered transport vehicles. Public cooperation, it stressed, is essential to curbing the illegal mining network that tends to operate under the cover of darkness. (JKNS)
