Tangdhar, Dec 7: The week-long Karnah Volleyball League 2025-26, organised by the Indian Army under its civic outreach and youth development initiatives, concluded today amid overwhelming participation and spirited celebrations in Tangdhar, Held from 1st to 7th December, the tournament transformed the picturesque border region into a vibrant sporting hub, drawing crowds from across the sub-division.

This year’s edition featured eight teams representing different villages and localities, turning the event into a showcase of talent, athletic excellence and healthy competition. Players demonstrated exceptional skill and enthusiasm, reflecting the growing culture of sports in the LoC region.

Throughout the week, the matches attracted large gatherings of villagers, families, students and sports lovers, who cheered passionately for their local teams. The event not only promoted sportsmanship but also provided a much-needed platform for youth engagement, community interaction and constructive recreation.

The grand finale, held on Sunday, witnessed an electrifying contest between Team Baghbela and Team Dhanni. In a thrilling showdown, Team Baghbela emerged triumphant and lifted the Championship Trophy, while Team Dhanni finished as the Runners-up, displaying determination and resilience till the end. The crowd erupted with applause and appreciation for both teams’ performances.

The Closing Ceremony added a ceremonial touch to the tournament, with the Commander, 104 Infantry Brigade, attending as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, the Commander congratulated all participating teams, lauded the passion of local youth, and highlighted the Army’s commitment to fostering sports, peace and harmony in border areas. He also felicitated the players, coaches and organisers, acknowledging their efforts in nurturing a culture of unity and discipline through sports.

Beyond the competition, the event provided a significant opportunity for positive civil-military interaction, strengthening the bond between the Jawan and Awaam. Soldiers and civilians shared conversations, laughter and memorable moments, reinforcing the spirit of mutual trust and cooperation in the frontier region.

Local residents expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for its support to youth activities and community welfare. Many spectators admired the level of organisation, calling the league a refreshing and inspiring event for Karnah’s youth.

With the successful conclusion of the Karnah Volleyball League 2025–26, the Indian Army has once again demonstrated its role in empowering local talent, promoting sports culture and enhancing social cohesion along the LoC. Participants and organisers hoped that such events would continue to be held regularly, offering new opportunities for the youth to shine. (JKNS)
