Srinagar, Dec 8 (JKNS): A 69-year-old man from Srinagar’s Khanyar area has gone missing in New Delhi, leaving his family in deep distress as they appeal to both the government and the general public for assistance in locating him.

Details available with news agency JKNS stated that the missing man, identified as Ghulam Qadir Burki, a long-time businessman who frequently travelled to Delhi for over fifty years, was last spotted around 5 PM on December 2 at Bhogal Market, where he had gone along with his wife for some shopping.

Family members told JKNS that Burki disappeared shortly after stepping aside near an ATM counter. “He went to the ATM and told his wife to return to their flat in Lajpat Nagar, but he did not come back until 10 PM. His phone was switched off immediately afterward, and there has been no communication since,” a relative said.

They added that despite continuous searches in the surrounding localities and informing the local police, there has been no breakthrough. “We have knocked every possible door, but we still have no information about his whereabouts,” the family said.

A missing report has already been filed with Delhi Police, but the relatives say that the efforts on the ground haven’t yielded any positive outcome.

They have now requested the J&K government and LG administration to intervene and coordinate with Delhi authorities for an intensified search.

“It has been six days of unbearable anxiety. About fourteen of our family members are in Delhi searching day and night. Some have fallen ill due to stress. We humbly request both the J&K government and Delhi government to help us trace him,” another family member said.

The family has appealed to people especially Kashmiri’s settled in Delhi to spread the word and share any possible lead that could help locate the elderly man.

Anyone with information is requested to contact the family at 88994-92023, 95968-63102, or 95961-92276.

The relatives continue to hope that timely intervention and public support will help reunite them with the missing elderly man. —(JKNS)
