Srinagar, Dec 9 (JKNS): Rich tributes were paid today to Kh. Ghulam Rasool Beigh, former President of the All J&K Low Paid Government Employees Federation, Municipal Employees Association and Municipal Pensioners Association, on his 29th death anniversary.
Beigh, regarded as one of the founding figures of the trade union movement in Jammu & Kashmir, is remembered for his lifelong commitment to employee welfare, justice and dignity. Social and political organisations, NGOs, trade unions and traders’ bodies participated in the commemorative events and recalled his role in strengthening the rights of government and municipal employees across the UT.
Tributes were also offered to Madam Fatima Rasool Beigh, Chief Patron of the G.R. Beigh Memorial Foundation, whose first death anniversary falls on December 14. Participants highlighted her contribution in carrying forward the mission of public service with dedication and compassion.
The G.R. Beigh Memorial Foundation, led by Chairman Ishtiyaq Beigh, was widely acknowledged for continuing the legacy through various welfare initiatives across Jammu & Kashmir. The Foundation has so far organised numerous medical camps, conducted blood donation drives contributing 26 blood points, provided ration support to underprivileged families, extended one-time financial assistance to orphan girls, and organised Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan rallies. The Chairman has also led multiple barefoot awareness marches to highlight social issues.
The commemorative programmes will continue on December 11 and December 14 with Qur’an Khani and special prayers at the Foundation’s head office and its district units for the maghfirat of Kh. Ghulam Rasool Beigh and Madam Fatima Rasool Beigh. (JKNS)
