Srinagar, Dec 14 (JKNS): Thousands of devotees on Sunday congregated at the revered Hazratbal Shrine to observe the Urs of Khalifa Awal Ameer-ul-Momineen Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA).

Devotees assembled in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), which was displayed after every prayer amid an atmosphere of deep reverence and devotion. Many worshippers were seen offering special prayers with moist eyes, seeking blessings and spiritual solace.

As per news agency JKNS, shrine authorities arranged special sermons highlighting the exemplary life, sacrifices, and leadership of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA), urging followers to draw inspiration from the teachings of the companions of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

“This occasion reminds us of the values of faith, honesty, and sacrifice exemplified by Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA). Visiting Hazratbal on such sacred days is a source of spiritual strength for us,” said Abdul Hameed, a devotee.

The Urs was also observed at other prominent religious centres, including Jinab Sahab Soura, Asar-i-Sharief Kalashpora, Kabamarg, and Aham-i-Sharief Bandipora. Special religious congregations and sermons were organised at various mosques across Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir Valley.

Meanwhile, despite the intense cold, markets in and around the Hazratbal area witnessed brisk activity, with devotees purchasing religious items and household goods. Local traders said that such religious occasions not only strengthen spiritual bonds but also provide a welcome boost to business for vendors and shopkeepers. (JKNS)
