Kulgam, Dec 15 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kulgam district have detained a notorious criminal under the Public Safety Act (PSA) as part of their ongoing drive against habitual offenders.
According to an official statement, Kulgam Police continuing their strict action against notorious and habitual criminals nabbed an individual with a long history of involvement in theft-related cases in several police stations across the Valley.
Despite repeated arrests and legal action under relevant provisions of law, the accused continued to engage in disrupting peace and public order causing fear and insecurity among the general public.
The arrested individual has been identified as Tariq Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Hassan Dar resident of Raiwattan Asnoor Manzgam Kulgam.
Following the assessment of his repeated criminal activities, the District Magistrate Kulgam issued a detention warrant under the PSA. The warrant was subsequently executed by a team of Police Station Manzgam and the accused has been lodged in the designated jail as per the detention order.
Kulgam Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and public order in the district and affirmed that strict action will continue against those involved in criminal and anti-social activities. (JKNS)
