Srinagar, Dec 16 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir cricket reached a historic milestone at the IPL Season 19 mini auction as fast bowler Auqib Nabi Dar from Baramulla secured a high-profile contract with Delhi Capitals for a massive ₹8.40 crore, emerging as one of the costliest Indian buys of the auction.

As per news agency JKNS, the lucrative signing reflects Auqib’s rapid rise in domestic cricket and highlights the growing presence of J&K players on the national stage. The deal is being hailed as a landmark moment for the region, which continues to produce promising cricketers despite infrastructural and exposure-related challenges.

The 28-year-old right-arm pacer has been a standout performer for Jammu and Kashmir in domestic competitions, earning recognition for his ability to move the ball, maintain discipline, and deliver under pressure. His consistency across formats has made him a key figure in the J&K bowling attack.

Auqib’s defining breakthrough came in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy season, where he finished among the leading wicket-takers with an impressive haul of 44 wickets. His match-winning spells against strong domestic sides drew the attention of IPL franchises, culminating in intense bidding during the auction.

In addition to his bowling prowess, Auqib has demonstrated useful lower-order batting skills, further enhancing his value as a multi-dimensional player.

With Delhi Capitals investing heavily in him, Auqib Nabi Dar now faces high expectations as he prepares to showcase his talent on the IPL stage.

Previously, several J&K players including Parvez Rasool, Umran Malik, Abdul Samad, Rasikh Salam, Yudhvir Singh, Mohammad Mudhasir, and Manzoor Pandav have featured in the IPL, gaining valuable exposure at the elite level. (JKNS)
