Kulgam, Dec 17 (JKNS): As part of a continuous special drive against traffic violations, the Traffic Police on Wednesday carried out an extensive enforcement operation at multiple locations across the Qazigund–Kulgam sector.
The special drive was led by DySP Traffic Mohammad Aslam, assisted by different traffic teams, with the objective of curbing traffic violations and ensuring smooth and safe movement of vehicles. During the drive, six vehicles were seized, while 122 violators were booked and issued on-the-spot challans. A total penalty of ₹54,000 was imposed on traffic offenders.
Alongside enforcement, the Traffic Police also conducted an awareness programme to educate drivers and the general public about the importance of adhering to traffic rules and ensuring their effective implementation on the ground. The programme emphasized road safety and responsible driving practices.
Officials said that the special drive forms part of their ongoing efforts to streamline traffic movement and provide a safe and hassle-free commuting experience for the general public.
The initiative was widely appreciated by local residents. DySP Traffic Mohammad Aslam appealed to the general public, especially vehicle drivers and bikers, to strictly follow traffic rules for their own safety and the safety of others. (JKNS)
