Srinagar, Dec 22 (JKNS): Light rain, snowfall may occur in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir till Tuesday morning as a weak Western Disturbance is expected to influence the region, weatherman said on Monday.
Independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif Keng, who runs the popular weather platform Kashmir Weather, told news agency JKNS that the recent weather conditions across the Union Territory have largely remained on expected lines, with higher temperatures preventing snowfall in the plains.
He said the main weather system has already moved out of Jammu and Kashmir. However, the impact of another weak Western Disturbance could trigger light rain or snowfall in isolated areas from Monday afternoon till early Tuesday, particularly in north Kashmir.
Keng added that if precipitation occurs in the plains during nighttime hours, it may fall as snow as temperatures are likely to drop.
Overall, he said weather models do not indicate any major or widespread precipitation across the region. “Still, with residual moisture left behind by the earlier Western Disturbance, there remains a slight possibility of some activity, especially over higher reaches,” he said.
It is noteworthy that parts of Jammu and Kashmir recently witnessed rainfall in the plains and snowfall in higher areas, bringing an end to the prolonged dry spell. (JKNS)
